My Story
I've loved to draw since I was a small child. Growing up I always aspired to be a cartoonist and would tell people that's what I was going to do when I grew up. I loved reading the Sunday comics and would practice drawing my favorite characters such as Beetle Bailey, Hagar the Horrible, Dennis the Menace, Charlier Brown, and my all-time favorite, Popeye the Sailor Man! My dream has always been to have my own comic strip syndicated in newspapers all over the world. Sadly, that hasn't happened yet but at least through the wonderful technology of the internet I can bring you episodes from my strip The Brother's Kat! The strip was inspired by my real-life cats Thomas, Bear and Leo and a lot of the ideas I get for the episodes come from actual events that have taken place with those crazy little furballs! I hope you enjoy reading my comics as much I love creating them!

The Characters

Thomas J. is the leader of the crew and definitely the Alpha Cat. Being that he was the first one that was taken in by Ron and Mea and being the oldest of the three, he most of the time assumes the leadership role. He’s smart and wiley while also at many times being the voice of reason. At the same time he has no qualms about putting his other brothers in their place if he feels the need.

Brother Bear was the second stray that was taken in by the Kat family and he and Thomas share a nice brotherly bond. Bear is more or less the little clown of the group and can tend to get in more crazy situations. He’s a daydreamer and often will see himself as “The Mighty Panther King” but usually will be brought back to earth quickly by his parents or his cat siblings. He also can tend to be the meekest of the trio but has a heart of gold and would do anything for his brothers

Leo is the most recent stray to be rescued by Ron and Mea. Being that he is, as he calls it, a special breed of cat known as a Bengal, he tends to be a little arrogant as he’s very proud of his background and ancestry. He may always look like he’s a little angry but he really is a sweet fellow and just wants to be accepted by his new brothers

Ron is a devoted husband to Mea and the lover of all animals but especially his three boys, Thomas, Bear, and Leo. He is the epitome of the “crazy cat daddy”. He likes to always think he is the one in control but most of the time it’s the cats who are running the show. It’s their world and he’s just visiting. However, he loves his little family and there’s nothing he wouldn’t do for any of them.

Mea is the loving wife of Ron and the “Mama Mea” to Thomas, Bear, and Leo.She may look soft and delicate, but she’s a fiery little Latina that rules her home with an iron fist.Although the boys may be able to pull one over on their dad most of the time, it’s rare they can get over on Mea because in their words “no one messes with Mom!”.

Grandma Ann is the newest supporting character that has recently been introduced into the comic. She’s the mother of Ron and visits often to help sit for the boys whenever Ron and Mea need some time away. She’s a sweet, gentle little woman who loves her “widdle kitty babies”.Because of this she can’t help but spoil them rotten much to the chagrin of Ron and Mea who try their best to keep the boys disciplined. As a result, the brothers love it when Grandma Ann comes to visit.
